How do you make the best of your winter commute?

So how are you enjoying season so far? Is your winter commute into work everything you remember it to be?

Tuesday brought it all back for me. My snow guy had not been by yet, so I pulled my shovelling boots out, tucked my pants into them and headed out. The heavy snow stuck to the brush as you attempt to clear your car.

I had decided to get an early start, just so that I could enjoy the trip a bit. First, I made myself two slices of toast with peanut butter, a breakfast of champions, jumped in the vehicle and headed to Tim Horton’s on St. Charles in St-Lazare, with my new refill mug, which came with a first-refill-free coupon.

All set, with breakfast and coffee to go, I headed to the highway and cruised at about 80 kilometres an hour along Highway 40 till I hit the 540 merge. From there, till across the Ile aux Tourtes Bridge it was 40, sometimes 20 clicks an hour.

But the news was on, the coffee was good and the wipers were fully functional. Ah, the classic winter weekday morning. It took more than an hour to hit St. Jean Blvd. in Pointe-Claire.

Despite the slush and the messy spray, it was a relaxing, albeit time-consuming trek.

With the traffic moving so slowly it was easy to catch a glimpse of what others do in the vehicles on the way to work. Some eat. One woman was examining her face very closely in the mirror. Not quite sure what she was looking for. Others with their hands-free devices look like they are having animated conversations with themselves.
