In the summer of 2007, Pacific Street in Senneville was excavated its entire one-kilometre length to upgrade the sewer pipe to service a large research company in the town. In the process, a gas line was ruptured leading to a fire department intervention and evacuation of the area while the pipeline was repaired.
This summer, the entire road was excavated again to replace the water pipes. A large sign proclaimed the works are courtesy of the merged City Of Montreal.
On Thursday afternoon, a gas line was ruptured by an excavator leading, once again, to a fire department operation and evacuation of the area that lasted two hours. Luckily, no one was injured and no property was lost. Is this the result of the promised improved efficiency that resulted from mergers? It must have been planned by the same masterminds responsible for the St. Laurent street repairs.
