On Saturday May 31st, St. James’ Church in Hudson will host a community garage sale to benefit the Scouts Canada Namibia 2008 project.
This summer will see 27 young people and leaders working in African nursery schools. Team members will spend six weeks installing latrines, windows, blackboards, shelving and playground equipment in 11 different schools in the Okahandja area of Namibia.
Says Project Leader Alison Bentley: “There is such disparity in the way the world’s resources are distributed that we all feel privileged to have the opportunity to make a difference.”
The Community Garage Sale will take place in the beautiful grounds of St. James’ from 9 a.m. onwards on Saturday, May 31st. Members of the community are asked to contribute in one of two ways: first, by calling to arrange for pick up of their unwanted items, and second, by reserving a table to have their own items for sale in return for a minimum $20 donation to the Namibia project. This is a perfect opportunity for people who might not have enough items to hold their own garage sale.
Come out and support this very worthwhile project on Saturday, May 31st, at St. James’ Church, 642 Main Road, Hudson.
To purchase a table or arrange for pick up of unwanted items, please call Danica at 514-758-2014/450-458-7967 or Alison at 450-458-8076.
