Planting for a greener future

West Island College Students posing after the planting.
On Friday, June 12, a group of 10 students from West Island College in Dollard des Ormeaux took a break from their studies to give back to the community. The Green Warriors as they are known are an extra - curricular group at WIC. As their name tells you, they work towards a greener community, both local and global. After applying for and receiving over 80 seedlings from Les Clubs 4-H du Québec, the students were happy to find the yellow birch and red ash trees a home in Beaconsfield. The students, headmaster Martin Bailly and science teacher Valérie Vien set out to Parc Jean-Charlebois to plant the trees under the supervision of Mr. Lachance from the city of Beaconsfield. The trees came at a perfect time when the city was looking to replace the elm trees in that very park that were struggling to survive. Thanks to the WIC students, Parc Jean Charlebois has been rejuvenated!
