LETTER: Young heroes in Pointe Claire

posted by BOFarrell at 12h06

Lazare (in plaid) with lifeguards: Damien Bowness, Kevin Pinsky, James Tobin, and aquatic director Bill Gate.

Anyone who thinks the younger generation is going to hell in
a handbasket should have attended the heart-warming presentation at
the Pointe Claire Aquatic Centre last week to see a group of alert
young lifesavers receive an award for their quick thinking when a
swimmer suffered a massive heart attack after finishing his laps in
the pool in March.

Thanks to their training and dedication, these young men were able
to save the life of Mark Lazare, a respected dentist who presented
them with a plaque to be permanently displayed at the Aquatic
Centre. These young men are shining examples of what is right with
today's young people, and if anyone is looking for real heroes, they
can be found at the Pointe Claire pool.
