Obituary: Fred Kelley was known for his volunteer work

“In his final days, rather than us bringing him comfort, he brought us comfort. This is a loss for us and the whole community,” said Teresa Dellar, director of the West Island Palliative Care residence, of Fred Kelley who died Thursday following a year-long illness with cancer. He was 82.
Funeral services for Kelley, well-known in the community for his volunteer work and father of Jacques Cartier MNA Geoff Kelley, will be Saturday at Beaconsfield United Church.
Active in the community and local politics for many years, Kelley spent the last five years working as a caregiver at the Palliative Care Residence.
“He died at the Palliative Care Residence, in the same room as my mother, four years apart,” Geoff Kelley said.
Predeceased by his wife Marylee, Kelley leaves behind his children, Geoff (Judith Harper), Stephen, David and Mark (Angela Yazbek) and grandchildren Angela, Tess, Gregory, Sara and Marisa of Beaconsfield, and Aidan, Isaac, Lucas and Callum, of Toronto.
