The West Island Women’s Centre, an agency supported by Centraide, will hold a seminar entitled The Roots of Anxiety in Children on Tuesday, Feb. 9, from 1 to 3 p.m. Belligerence, bed-wetting, whining, nightmares and eating problems are some of the signs of a child under emotional duress. Understanding the foundational needs of a child helps us to manage these very common behavioural struggles we deal with as parents on a daily basis. Join Debbie Oestreich, a behavioural consultant whose background includes a bachelor’s degree in human sciences, for this two-hour exploration into your child’s thoughts and behaviour.

This seminar will be held at the West Island Women's Centre, 70 Belmont, Pointe Claire. All of the Women’s Centre’s seminars/wellness clinics are free and open to the general public. Please call to register. Free childcare for preschool-age children is also available, but you must register for this service by 3 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 8. For more information about this event or about the courses offered by the West Island Women's Centre, please visit us or call 514-695-8529. Our e-mail address is wiwc@qc.aibn.com.
