As the Kirkland Sports Complex facilities are not available to us on the Weekend of May 24th for us to host our community special event, we are proposing a Community Meeting on Saturday, May 24th at 9AM to be held, weather permitting, at the Garage Sale of 147 Place Terry-Fox, Kirkland with Volunteers and elected Representatives that are interested in participating this season as Volunteers and registered Kirkland Community Garage Sale Vendors in a proposed Annual Kirkland Community Garage Sale to be held as early as Saturday, June 7th.

For your copy of the letter detailing our proposal up to now, here is a sampling of the letter sent today to Kirkland City Council:

I have this idea to help create and establish an Annual Kirkland Community Garage Sale in my effort to contribute to the quality of life in Kirkland.

For your consideration, I am proposing this year a Kirkland Community Garage Sale on Saturday, June 7th from 6AM to 1PM on the grounds of the Kirkland Sports Complex and, weather permitting, on a reserved section of the municipal parking lot behind the Kirkland Sports Complex and Meades Park.

Following the Beaconsfield Community Garage Sale business model that has the Beaconsfield Leisure Department hosting their Annual Community Garage Sale inside the Beaconsfield Arena for the second year, this year on Saturday April 19th from 6AM to 1PM, I am proposing that with the contribution in kind and the financial support of the City of Kirkland for instance that waives the rental cost of the Kirkland facilities, tables and chairs, etc, I can help recruit Neighbourhood Watch Volunteers, help to sign-up Kirkland Garage Sale Vendors and Corporate Sponsors. Kirkland Residents that want to participate would have to sign-up with us online to first rent a space measuring about 12 X 12 for a fee of $10. For an additional fee of $10, a banquet table measuring about 6 X 2 1/2 with 2 chairs would be made available to registered Kirkland Garage Sale Vendors.

If you support my proposal, proceeds of the Kirkland Community Garage Sale registration fees would be donated to a registered non-profit Kirkland Neighbourhood Watch Committee sponsored in part by a non-profit community organization soon to be registered as Neighbourhood Party/Partie des Voisins to launch a new crime prevention initiative to Get To Know Your Neighbours, with mission statement to install more Neighbourhood Watch signs in strategic areas-at all Kirkland Municipal Parks-and to identify and support Neighbourhood Watch Volunteers in each of the Kirkland Municipal Electoral District Neighbourhoods.

As I am only one Resident of Kirkland, may I have access to the list of Residents that have requested a Garage Sale Permit from the City of Kirkland in previous years to invite them to a City of Kirkland sponsored Community Garage Sale? With the special invitation list made available to us, the Mayor of Kirkland and City Councillors are welcomed to personally invite all Kirkland Residents that paid for a Kirkland Garage Sale Permit in the past and all Kirkland citizens that want to host a Garage Sale in Kirkland this season to consider joining us for the First Annual Kirkland Community Garage Sale on Saturday, June 7th weather permitting, on the Parking Lot of the Kirkland Sports Complex, on the grounds of Meades Park and inside the Kirkland Sports Complex, Arena and Gymnasium.

For all the above reasons, I am writing to you today to request a Kirkland Community Garage Sale Permit for our registered non-profit organization "Parc des Arts/ArtsPark" to co-host the special event this year so that we can begin to work together as Kirkland Residents and Kirkland Community Garage Sale Volunteers to help identify all Kirkland Residents that would support this proposal by attending our event this year.
