Quebec 4-H’s college club MAC JAC is hosting their annual square dancing competition on Saturday, Jan. 19. After the competition the public is invited to dance, no experience is required. Quebec 4-H recently wrapped up a square dancing revitalization project, promoting the dance among the organization.
Quebec 4-H
Quebec 4-H is a grassroots organization aimed at promoting agriculture among Anglophone rural youth in Quebec. Quebec 4-H has a membership of more than 400 young people aged 6 to 25 years. Quebec 4-H is celebrating its centennial in 2013. The most popular projects are dairy and square dancing but there is also strong emphasis on community service and public speaking.
100 Years
In 2013 4-H will celebrate 100 years in Canada. The organization works with young people to encourage “Learn to Do by Doing.” To celebrate the anniversary the Canadian 4-H Council has initiated a number of community service programs, and exploring their past. Rural youth organizations in Quebec are also celebrating centennials.
