Fire damages gas station in Vaudreuil-Dorion

Blaze rips through Esso station on Cité des Jeunes, near Highway 540

An early morning fire has heavily damaged an Esso gas station Wednesday on Cité des Jeunes Blvd. in Vaudreuil-Dorion.

One nearby home was evacuated as a precaution, but no one was injured in the blaze, police said.

The gas bar/convenience store on Cité des Jeunes, near Highway 540, was closed when the fire broke out about 4:15 a.m.

The station's underground gasoline reservoirs were never in danger of exploding, firefighters said.

Some propane tanks stored outside the building were destroyed in the fire, they said.

Cité des Jeunes was blocked to traffic in the vicinity of the gas station while firefighters dealt with the blaze, police said.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
