It’s the right time of the year to enjoy the fall foliage and Rigaud is the right place to take it in.
The town’s eleventh annual Festival des Couleurs takes place Oct. 11 & 12, and this year, the festival will also mark Rigaud’s 225th anniversary.
Activities include horse/carriage rides through the centre of town, walks and hikes along many trails, an outdoor art gallery and using the ski lift at the Mont Rigaud Ski Centre to see the colourful leaves from a bird's eye view. There will also be a traditional New France Indian Village at Chartier-de-Lotbinière park. As well, 17 of the MRC's 23 municipalities will be on hand at the Mont Rigaud Ski Centre.
For Montrealers who want to enjoy the festival without using a car, the Metropolitan Transportation Agency will be running an excursion express train on Oct. 12. It will leave the Lucien L'Allier station at 10 a.m. and return from Rigaud at 5 p.m..The cost is $60 for a family of four, $20 for adults. Children under 6 ride free.
