Water main work will snarl traffic in Kirkland’s Timberlea district

Water main construction work is set to begin next week on Chemin Ste. Marie and in the provincial government right-of-way set aside for the extension of Highway 440.

A notice posted on the town of Kirkland’s website outlines the details of the major construction project, which will mean road closures, detours and traffic congestion in the Timberlea area.

Preparatory work began this week; construction starts August 13.The work is expected to take between two and three months.

The online notice states that the installation of underground water pipes along Chemin Ste. Marie as well as in the provincial right-of-way will consolidate connections between the water supply networks of Pierrefonds and Pointe Claire and, improve the level of service to Kirkland.

The work will mean the complete closure of a section of Chemin Ste. Marie west of the Centre RioCan to Ste. Anne de Bellevue. A detailed map of is posted on the Kirkland website.
