Senator Marisa Ferretti Barth, a Pierrefonds resident, has been named to the Ordre national du Québec.
Ferretti Barth, who was appointed to the Canadian Senate in 1997, founded the Regional Council of Italian-Canadian Seniors in 1974, which today boasts 80 clubs that provide community services and programs to seniors. Ferretti Barth also participated in the creation of various organizations for different ethnic groups in the province, including Afghans, Chinese, Laotians, Lebanese-Syrians and Russians.
Ferretti Barth, was one of 52 Quebecers named to the order last week.
Since 1984, more than 600 members have been inducted to the Ordre national du Québec in recognition of extraordinary achievement to citizens who have enriched the lives of others.
