Court date to be set

Decision on whether accused will be tried as an adult

Bianca Leduc was killed Oct. 31. (Gazette file photo)

Quebec Superior Court will set a court date on Aug. 29 to
determine whether an 18-year-old charged in the death last fall of
Bianca Leduc, 3, will be tried in adult court or as a youth, Judge
Marc David ruled yesterday. Crown prosecutors want to reverse a June
27 decision by Quebec Court ordering the man, who turned 18 the day
of Bianca's death, tried in youth court. The man has been charged
with criminal negligence causing death and dangerous operation of a
motor vehicle. Bianca was killed by a car Oct. 31 as she was putting
up Halloween decorations on the front lawn of a home daycare in Île
Perrot.
