Company offering Lac St. Louis seniors free lift to polling booths

While various political parties often supply transportation to voters who need a lift, this Oct. 14 election day there’s an extra service for seniors in the Lac St. Louis riding being offered by private enterprise.
“Many seniors are reluctant to ask for help from strangers,” said Peter Eusanio, president of Comfort Keepers, which offers in-home non-medical care to seniors. “Our caregivers are bonded and insured. They have all undergone background checks and specialized training to understand the specific needs and concerns of seniors.”
There are just over 80,000 registered voters in the Lac St. Louis riding, he said, and almost 40 per cent of West Island residents are over the age of 65, with five per cent over 85 years of age.
“This free service on election day will allow seniors the independence to participate freely in the election process.
Comfort Keeper reps will drive seniors to the polls and back. Call 514-695-3198 to register for a ride.
