Background notes for LBPSB Council - June 29, 2009

The pictures on the right are of very brave people who fought for the freedoms that we enjoy today. They are heroes: Private George Albert Eustace with his bride, Helene, at their wedding in 1943, Cairo, Egypt. Corporal Martin Dubé - Quebec City, Quebec Age: 35; Unit: 5 Combat Engineer Regiment; Date of incident: June 14, 2009; Incident description: improvised explosive device (photo in National Post/Reuters) Trooper Karine Blais - Les Méchins, Quebec Age: 21; Unit: 12e Régiment blindé du Canada; Date of incident: April 13, 2009; Incident description: improvised explosive device (photo: CBC news)

Karine Blais and Martin Dubé were in Afghanistan fighting for democracy so that women would be treated with more dignity and boys and girls can go to school in peace.

On Monday, June 29, the Lester B. Pearson School Board Council of Commissioners meets. These links in descending order are background notes for the meeting. The two West Island Gazette postings are straightforward. They are titled: 'LBPSB: Ethics and Transparency - May 25, 2009 Council Meeting' 'Cairo to Quebec City - a New Beginning - Bill 88 ' (June 9) The Le Devoir link is an article of June 2, 2007 : 'La CSDM se dotera d'un ombudsman'. There are five Réactions following the piece. (in ascending order). Each part has sub-links. There is an overlap of links because I was not sure if that "part" was the last part. (hope to write two more parts soon) http://westislandgazette.com/news/news/7840 http://westislandgazette.com/news/news/8112 http://www.ledevoir.com/2007/06/02/145926.html
