Contest was a scam

Station #1

A Kirkland man went from elated to suspicious
when he realized the contest he allegedly won was nothing more than
a scam.

Having entered an online contest recently, when he got an email
saying he had won almost $3 million, the man was thrilled.

But when he got a phone call asking for personal information,
including bank account information, he realized it wasn't
legitimate. When he began asking questions, the person on the other
end of the line just hung up.

Levis said it's important for people to always be alert and never
give information over the phone that seems unnecessarily personal.

"Ask if you can call them back. If it's legitimate, they'll give
you all the information you need."
