A group of people, one with a two-year-old child, swarmed a Lachine depanneur last week but took off empty-handed when the cashier caught on to their act, according to Montreal Police.
Constable Martin Desmarais said three men, one who had a two-year-old child with him, along with three women – all estimated to be between 30 and 40-years-old – entered the 45th Ave. depanneur at 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 26 and swarmed the store, trying to distract the cashier who nevertheless noticed that two of the women were at the back of the store, where the cigarettes were stored. The cashier told them to leave or she would call police. The group left in a grey van. A lock to a back door was later discovered to be broken.
