Pierrefonds-Roxboro will hold a special borough council meeting Wednesday, September 26 to table its proposed 2013 budget, one that should reflect changes in the way boroughs are funded by the central city.
Michael Applebaum, the city of Montreal’s executive committee chairman announced changes last June to the formula the central city uses to fund Pierrefonds-Roxboro and 18 other boroughs.
Homeowners in city of Montreal boroughs, including Pierrefonds-Roxboro pay property taxes to the central city, which in turn provides funding for borough services. For years, borough officials had complained that the former city of Montreal formula shortchanged them.
The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the council chamber at the borough’s municipal offices. Details of the budget will be released at that time.
After the budget is approved by the borough council, it will go to the city of Montreal’s executive committee for approval.
