The point seems to be always forgotten. People who bought a place near a noise source, get what they paid for. Why is the property less expensive than one farther from the tracks, airport, etc,? Well duh! Now they want the rest of us to pay for their discomfort? Sorry, live with your choice.

What about the residents on the north side of the 20? With a sound barrier on the south side won't the noise simply bounce right over to the poor residents north of the highway along Elm? When the sound barrier on the south side of the 20 at Cartier went up I was living in the Cedar Park Heights area of Pointe Claire...and believe me the noise from the highway and trains became MUCH louder, and I was living at the top of the hill. Maybe the best solution would be to put a sound barrier on BOTH sides of the 20, from Lachine to Ste-Anne de Bellevue, like they have done for many highway side communities in Ontario.
