Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a knife-wielding robber who targeted women withdrawing money from automated banking machines this summer.

The two incidents happened on Aug. 26 — one downtown, the other at Dorval Gardens in Dorval.

In the Dorval incident, police say, the robber came up behind the female victim, placed a hand on her shoulder and brandished a knife with the other hand while demanding she hand over the money that she had just withdrawn. The robber then left Dorval Gardens in a taxi and, police say, travelled to Lachine.

This armed robbery followed an earlier attempt at Alexis Nihon Plaza downtown that day. The robber was unsuccessful in that incident.

The suspect is described as being about 50 years of age, white, with brown eyes and black hair. He is 5-feet-7 tall and weighs 150 pounds. He spoke English.
