Ste. Anne de Bellevue church celebrates family with new musical produciton

The Road Home, a musical journey celebrating the circle of life and the global family, will be staged this weekend at Union Church in Ste. Anne de Bellevue.

The 90-minute, multi-media concert will feature the music of modern day songwriters, such as Paul Simon, the Beatles, Leonard Cohen, Carole King and Josh Groban as well as several theatrical numbers.

The Road Home is a third in a series of ‘road shows’ produced at the Ste. Anne de Bellevue United Church. It features vocalists Jon Davis, Alish Ruiss, Nadia Theobal and Greg Tudeski as well as the 18-voice Union Church choir.

The new production, which explores themes of family and belonging, was created by Patti Murphy and Pierre Gallant, both members of the congregation. Murphy has worked professionally in theatre. Gallant is a composer now back home in Montreal after 20 years at the Conservatory of Music in Toronto.

“It’s our passion project,” said Murphy.

The Road Home takes splace at Union Church, 24 Maple Ave. at 8 p.m. on Friday, November 23 and Saturday, November 24 and, on Sunday, November 25 at 2 p.m.

Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for students. Theyare available by calling 514-457-5819 or 514-453-7103 and, through the church office.

A percentage of proceeds from the Friday evening performance will benefit the West Island Palliative Care Residence.
