Bring your VCR to the centre court at Fairview Pointe Claire, Saturday and help raise money for the World Wildlife Fund Canada. For every VCR dropped off for recyling, the Canadian specialty channel Rewind will give a $25 charitable donation, up to a maximum of $25,000, to the WWF Canada, an organization that advocates sustainable environmental practices. Rewind broadcasts classic movies from the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s.
VCR collections are also taking place in Toronto, Edmonton, Vancouver and Calgary. Tax receipts will not be issued for each recycled VCR because an electronic device is not considered a charitable donation. VCRs will be collected during regular shopping hours. People who drop off a VCR may also fill in a ballot for a chance to win $2,000. The contest is not connected to the charity drive for WWF Canada.
