A new chief is set to take charge of the West Island Health and Social Services Centre (WIHSSC), which encompasses two CLCS and a long-term care facility, as well as the Lakeshore General Hospital.
Benoit Morin is to assume the position of WIHSSC executive director on Monday.
Henri Elbaz had served on an interim basis for most of 2012, with his mandate ending in December, providing the local health board with time to hire a permanent replacement for the post vacated by Suzanne Turmel, who had been executive director for about five years until she stepped aside. Danielle Schryer is holding down the fort between Elbaz’s departure and Morin’s arrival.
A call for candidates had been posted last fall with an early October application deadline. The board had stated then that the ideal candidate was a bilingual senior executive with experience in the health and social services sector who would be able to manage about 2,000 employees, including some 250 doctors.
A selection committee composed of three WIHSSC board members plus a representative each from the Montreal and Quebec health departments had been mandated to evaluate candidates.
Neither Morin nor WIHSSC board chairman Richard Legault were available for interviews this week.
Meanwhile, the next WIHSSC board of directors meeting is set for Jan. 28 at 7 p.m. at the Lakeshore General Hospital, Room 5227-5237
