A home was burgled on Willow St. in Pierrefonds, Jan. 25. Montreal police constable Daniel Maheu, from Station #3, said the suspect or suspects entered the home through a second-floor bathroom window on the south side of the single-family dwelling by climbing onto the roof at the back of the house, sometime between 7:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.
The window was broken and the latch pried open using a crowbar. Three, second-floor bedrooms were tossed. The robber(s) took a laptop computer, a handbag, jewelry and American and Canadian money and left by the broken window because the alarm system on the main floor was armed.
The victim only noticed that the second floor had been burgled went he went upstairs to go to bed at 11 p.m.
There was also a break-in on Ouimet St. in Île Bizard, sometime between 3:30 p.m., Jan. 25 and 1:30 p.m., Jan. 27.
Maheu said the home is being renovated by the victim, who is a contractor.
When the victim entered the house on the afternoon of Jan. 27, he noticed it was very cold, so cold that a pipe had frozen and exploded and there was water in the basement.
The victim discovered that the window in the basement bathroom had been broken. He toured the rest of the house and realized that a number of tools had been taken.
He also discovered that the centre pane of the living-room window was broken. The suspect or suspects left by the patio door and climbed over the fence, going in the direction of Blvd. Chèvremont.
