Abbott men split New York basketball tourney

The John Abbott College men’s basketball team earned a split in two games at a basketball tournament in Troy, N.Y., on the weekend.

In the first game, the Isles lost 78-38 to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Cory Simmons was the top Abbott scorer with 18 points.

In the second game of the tourney, the Isles prevailed 66-54 over Cooper Union from New York.

Simmons once again led the Isles in scoring with 12 points.

Also hitting double digits were Nathan Joyal (11) Jason Griffiths (10) and Yossi Ohnona (10).
Simmons was later selected to the tournament all-star team.
