The Lakeshore Junior A Jaguars struck gold Feb. 7 in Montreal North, winning the 46th annual edition of the Atom-Junior tournament.

The final game pitted the Lakeshore Jaguars against the Mousquetaires de St. Hyacinthe. The teams were well matched, with a back-and-forth scoreless first period and remained scoreless until Lakeshore opened the scoring at the 6:28 mark of the second.

Lakeshore scored another mid-way through the third to take a 2-0 lead. Then, with 2:10 left in the third, St. Hyacinthe pulled their goalie and poured on the pressure in an effort to break the shutout.  The Jags held strong and eventually scored an empty-netter with 45 seconds left to seal the victory.

The Jaguars went 4-0-1 during the 16-team tournament and completed the round robin portion with eight of a possible nine points, which led them to the semis Saturday against the Patriotes de Beauharnois, where Lakeshore won that game 4-2.

This is the second year running that the Lakeshore Junior A Jaguars have won this tournament. Congratulations to the entire team as well as the coaching staff of Stephen Eyton-Jones, Doug Coleman and Peter Wordsworth on a great effort and a job well done!
