Lady Isles blank Dawson Blues in soccer

The John Abbott Lady Islanders defeated the Dawson Blues 2-0 in CEGEP women’s soccer league action Friday at Catalogna field in Lachine.
Amanda Hambsch and Kathryn Pépin scored goals for the Lady Islanders.
John Abbott goalkeeper Caitlin Burns played well to earn her first shutout of the season.
On Sunday, the Lady Islanders (2-5) lost 2-0 to undefeated F.X. Garneau.
CEGEP rugby: The John Abbott Islanders defeated Champlain St. Lambert 38-12 on Saturday.
Mike Homsy paced the Isles with two tries, while Jonathan Byrne, Josh Blair, Daniel Ablenas and Mackenzie Nichols added singles.
Alex Boehler and Edward McKyes were named Players of the Game for JAC.
Meanwhile, the John Abbott women’s rugby team thumped Champlain College 39-0.
Amanda Rochette led JAC with four tries, while Liane Bragg, Hughanna Gaw and Rebecca Waring added singles.
