It was only a matter of time.
John Limniatis made the jump to the pro coaching ranks Tuesday when he was named the new head coach of the struggling Montreal Impact soccer club, replacing Nick De Santis who stepped aside to become the club’s technical director.
Limniatis is a former Impact defender (1993-2001) and team captain. But he is also familiar to hundreds, if not thousands of West Island soccer players and coaches as head of the Lac St. Louis region’s Triple-A Lakers and coaching development program.
Joining Limniatis as an assistant coach is Marc Dos Santos, the regional technical coordinator and coach of the Impact reserve team, the Trois Rivières Attak.
How will the fiery Limniatis do as a head coach?
All depends on whether the players start finding back of the net...something they’ve failed to do much of lately, eventually leading De Santis to step aside.
