Pointe Claire canoeist heads to Beijing Olympics

Thomas Hall qualifies by taking gold at World Cup event in Germany

Thomas Hall of the Pointe Claire Canoe Club is headed to Beijing.
Hall qualified for the Olympic Games in China on Saturday when he won the gold medal in the men’s canoe singles 1,000-metre race at a World Cup event in Duisburg, Germany.
Hall beat German favourite Andreas Dittmer and fellow Canadian Mark Oldershaw of Oakville, Ont., to take top spot on the podium.
