John Lavery has been appointed an
assistant coach with the McGill University women's rugby team.
Lavery, a 33-year-old Lachine native, has been an assistant coach
with the Ste. Anne de Bellevue Rugby Football Club since 2004, and
has served as technical consultant for the Quebec under-18 men's
team.
He replaces Philippe Rodgers, who moved to Halifax, on the Martlets
coaching staff.
"(John) brings a wealth of coaching and playing experience," said
McGill Martlets head coach Vince deGrandpré. "I have no doubt that
he will bring a new dynamic style to the team."
Lavery still plays competitive club rugby for Ste. Anne and the
Quebec Caribou of the Rugby Canada Super League.
