The 32nd annual Montreal Scottish Festival (Highland Games), featuring the popular Heavy Athletic competition, takes place this Sunday at the George Springate Sports Centre in Pierrefonds.
Organizers are hoping for good weather to entice a big draw.
“We aim for a crowd 15,000 and keep our fingers crossed it doesn’t rain,” said event spokesperson Louise Dineen.
The day kicks off at 8:30 a.m. with Highland Dancing and the pipes and drums.
The impressive Heavy Athletic competition takes place on the main field at 10 a.m. Contestants test their mettle at the caber toss, throwing of the hammers, putting the stone and sheaf toss.
Admission is $15 for adults and free for children under 12.
