JOHN MORSTAD, THE GAZETTE / Coach Jean-Francois Charette instructs the atom and peewee girls who attended the Hockey Can

More than 70 female hockey players attended a one-day camp hosted by Hockey Canada on March 7 at the Dollard Civic Centre.

The camp, open to atom and peewee players, featured two on-ice training sessions as well as off-ice activities designed to foster teamwork and sportsmanship.

Among the camp instructors was Pointe Claire's Julia Carlton, a former McGill Martlet rearguard who is hoping to join the coaching staff of the John Abbott Lady Islanders next season.

Carlton spent last season as an assistant coach at Brown University, an Ivy League school in Rhode Island.
